Employee Application controls the company-wide defaults for the employee app. Use these settings to decide which tools employees can open, what check-in choices they receive, how much shift detail they can see, and which advanced mobile workflows are available.
This page shows the full Employee Application settings form, including additional options that may appear when your company uses advanced reports, GPS workflows, or related app features. Every visible blue information icon in the image below has a matching detail section further down the page.
Note: These preferences customize the employee web application for all employees. To override these settings for individual employees, use the ID badge icon in the Actions column of the Employees list.
Some options appear only when your company uses certain mobile workflows, reports, GPS tracking settings, or related integrations. The image above is designed to show the full available option set in one place.
Option Descriptions
General
Enable web/app based clock in
Allows employees to clock in from the web app or mobile app. If this is turned off, employees must clock in by phone instead.
Prevent clock in for blocked GPS
Prevents employees from clocking in through the employee app when GPS access is explicitly blocked on their device.
Prevent clock in based on employee distance from job site
Turns on distance-based clock-in validation. Use this when employees should only be able to clock in while they are close enough to the mapped job site location.
Max distance from job site
Sets the maximum distance, in meters, that an employee can be from the job site and still clock in. This field appears only when distance-based clock-in enforcement is enabled.
Enable access to trouble tickets feature
Adds Trouble Tickets to the employee app so employees can submit field issues from the app.
Enable access to schedule feature
Lets employees open and review their schedules in the employee app.
Enable access to timecard feature
Lets employees review their timecard information and recent hours worked from the employee app.
Job Picker Options
Default job picker
Chooses which picker opens first when an employee taps the check-in button. The available choices depend on the pickers your company has enabled.
Enable job site picker
Allows employees to check in by selecting a job site. When location data is available, this picker can focus the employee on nearby sites.
Enable schedule picker
Allows employees to check in by selecting from scheduled jobs in the employee app.
Enable schedule picker default job
Allows the default job to remain available while employees are using the schedule picker.
Shift Details
Show schedule details
Shows schedule-level notes to employees when they review scheduled work in the app.
Available Reports
Homecare Report
Allows access to the Homecare Report when the company uses the healthcare workflow.
Require signature type
Requires employees to choose a signature type when signature capture is enabled.
Background GPS
Enable background GPS tracking
Turns on background location tracking for the employee app so the system can monitor location changes during a shift.
Enable employee managed patrols
Adds a patrol start and stop option in the employee app when background GPS tracking is enabled.
Distance to register location changes
Sets how far an employee must move before the app records a new location event. Smaller values create more frequent updates and can use more battery.
Heartbeat location updates
Controls how often heartbeat-based location updates are submitted. Lower numbers send more updates and can increase battery use.
Miscellaneous Options
Enable simple clock in/out
Simplifies app check-in and check-out so employees are not prompted for optional notes or photos unless the job requires them.
Enable time off requests
Allows employees to request time off from the Time Off area in the schedule view.
Enable advanced travel tracking
Adds Driver and Passenger choices when employees start travel tracking from the app.
Enable employee access to public reports in shift history view
Lets employees open public reports, including admin notes, for shifts they have already worked.
Enable job code filter restriction for explicit employee shifts
Restricts explicitly scheduled employees to those scheduled shifts while they are in window, instead of also showing Any Employee shifts.
If one employee needs different employee app behavior, open that employee in Employees and override the setting on the employee record instead of changing the company-wide defaults here.
